Town meeting day in Littleton
Snowfall didn’t deter citizens from exercising civic duty.
A healthy portion of Littleton’s citizens travelled out into Tuesday’s weather to cast their votes for town meeting day. Along with numerous warrant articles, the town elected a new board of select member, a park commissioner, library trustees and other town officials. We spent some time at the Town’s municipal garage to chat with the candidates, citizens and town officials. A short video of the coverage is available at the end of this article.
Gendreau to fill vacancy left by Bratz
Milton Bratz, former selectboard Chair for Littleton, closed out his term as the votes were cast on Tuesday. Carrie Gendreau (543), owner of Emma & Co. Consignments on Main street, defeated opponents Rudy Gelsi (148) and Chris Sweeney (333). Gendreau, who is a past President of the Littleton Area Chamber of Commerce, joined the other candidates and greeted the townsfolk at the polls. In a short commentary with Channel 2, Gendreau said that she enjoyed seeing everyone that came by to vote. While talking about Littleton she stated that “I grew up in this town, so I have a real love for the town. And I look forward to seeing the results, and our town, go further … than it ever has.”
Candidate Chris Sweeney also spoke with Channel 2 outside of the Municipal garage Tuesday Morning. Sweeney said “I see great potential in this town [Littleton] and I want to do all I can to contribute.” Chris went on to mention that if He did not win the selectboard position, He is “willing to support my town in other ways.” Candidate Rudy Gelsi was also there early in the visit, and chatted briefly about the event. However, He was unavailable for comment later in the morning.
