LRH Volunteer Department Recruiting Additional Volunteers
Charron Sundman, Interim Volunteer Director at Littleton Regional Healthcare, is looking for approximately 20 new volunteers. According to Sundman, “Though we currently have a large and vibrant group of volunteers, there are always areas that we can do an even better job of customer service for our patients and the hospital staff.”
Research shows that volunteering just three hours a week is a wonderful way to keep healthy. Feeling needed and helping others is a great way to give back to your community. “Knowing that you have made a patient’s day a little bit brighter is a wonderful feeling”, notes Sundman.
Volunteer Needs
Currently, they are looking for men and women who can volunteer for three hours once or twice a week. They are also looking for home-schooled high school students. Particularly, individuals who are available between the hours of 9 AM – Noon or 1 PM – 4 PM once a week. New volunteers get to choose the day and time that best fits their schedule. They will be trained by current volunteers.
Volunteering opportunities that are especially needed at the moment include greeting patients and visitors at one of their six volunteer desks located throughout the hospital and medical office building. They include the Front Desk at the main entrance to the hospital, the volunteer desk in the Same Day Surgery waiting room, the reception desks in the Upper and Lower Atrium of the medical office building and the volunteer desk at the main entrance to the medical office building. The hospital’s gift shop is also looking for new volunteers to staff two locations. First, in the shop located in the hospital. Also at the gift cart in the main lobby of the medical office building.
