Lancaster Selectboard 3/21/22
New Chair Elected in Lancaster
Last night the Lancaster Selectboard kicked off their 2022-23 season upstairs at the Town Hall in Lancaster NH. Following in the footsteps of past years, the seat of the Chairman went to Shane Beattie. Outgoing Chair Leon Rideout outlined during the opening minutes that the selectman up for re-election is usually appointed to the Chair position. Other appointments to various Town Boards and Committees were assigned as well. The full video of the meeting is available here on our YouTube page, or on this page below.
Town Manager Ben Gaetjens-Oleson started a new tradition of his own this evening. In a tongue-in-check comment at town meeting, Gaetjens-Oleson responded to the idea of local papers viewing and utilizing the town Selectboard coverage to help write their articles by saying:
“…if we’re gonna be subsidizing the newspapers coverage, then I’m gonna start getting baseball caps from the businesses in town and wearing them at those meetings so at least the businesses in town can start getting some coverage on TV”.
Follow through
The Town Manager has made good on that promise and taken on the role of local business supporter by donning a hat with a local business’ logo emblazoned on it. In a show of support, Gaetjens-Oleson wore a Red hat with a Black Line Printing & Apparel logo on the left front panel. Ben mentioned to us after the meeting that he had purchased the hat with his own money and that he has a list of at least 5 hats he is going to have printed himself and wear to future meetings.
At GNTV, we applaud his effort to shine a spotlight on local small businesses. We will be joining the Town Manager’s effort by presenting a quick shout-out to the business featured on his hat each week. Starting with this meeting, our videos display a message about who is featured on “Ben’s Hat”. We are placing the business’ logo on screen after the opening credits, before the meeting starts. Then only expense incurred in this effort is for the printing of the hats which has been covered out of pocket by the Town Manager himself.
