Gorham Farmers Market Finds Success in Second Year
Farmers Markets across the North Country are opening, taking new and unique steps to ensure the safety of their customers. I visited the Gorham Farmers Market, to see how it was dealing with not only the COVID-19 Pandemic but also its second year after returning from a short break.
This market looks a little different than the Littleton Farmers Market, which has implemented strict COVID-19 related policies and procedures. The most noticeable difference is the absence of forced traffic flow, allowing its customers to freely move. Jeff Stewart, the Market Manager said that the Town and many of the residents have felt that while COVID-19 is a serious threat across the country, it has posed less of a threat in the more northern regions of New Hampshire. He stated that this was the main reasoning behind the lack of a forced traffic pattern and optional masks. He assured that the town of Gorham is carefully watching the changing guidelines and will update their policies as needed.
The Gorham Farmers Market, much like Littleton’s, is seeing an increase in customers, even amidst a pandemic. Returning for its second year, the market has seen a strong number of vendors coming from far and wide. Produce, handcrafted goods, baked goods, and even dog treats are just the surface of what the roughly twenty vendors have to offer.
