Celebrate Pollyanna Day – “Plus”!
Official Pollyanna Glad Day
Welcoming online and in-person, Pollyanna of Littleton New Hampshire continues to attract and inspire admirers, bringing people together and giving rise to an annual Celebration – the Official Pollyanna Glad Day!
A Pollyanna PLUS occasion! 2019 Official Pollyanna Day Celebration is June 8th, 11 o’clock Saturday morning; and welcoming to all, takes place at the Sculpture on the Littleton Library lawn, Main Street.
The free public event also marks the 17th Anniversary of the historic unveiling of the Sculpture; and so, for some attendees, the celebration will be enjoyed as a Pollyanna reunion.
At the Pollyanna Day celebration, attendees can expect the favored traditions and festivities – a part of every year – the Group photo, Signature Honoree Award; and plenty of time to Be Glad and Eat Cake. And to linger, at the Pollyanna Sculpture for spirited a capella renditions by the Heartsong singers.
What’s New this Year
PLUS!, this June for the Official Pollyanna Day, there is a new excitement, history in the making and news to be fulfilled!
From the successful HB572, to its first and Official NH proclamation to declare the second Saturday of June as Pollyanna Day; and an annual recognition throughout the state! In that, there’s hope and inspiration that other NH communities, schools, libraries and residents, will share New Hampshire’s cultural connection of gladness and optimism exemplified in Littleton, NH’s gem of history… Present and Future.
Visiting the Pollyanna Sculpture admirers notice the inscription: “Author Eleanor Hodgman Porter (1868-1920), was born and lived in Littleton, New Hampshire. In 1913 she created the cheerful Pollyanna, the world-famous character, whose very name inspires an understanding of gladness and optimism.”
Twenty years ago, the Eames family of Littleton NH commissioned the beautiful bronze Pollyanna sculpture; now iconic, the fine art was created by NH Artist, Emile Birch, set and dedicated in a public ceremony. In Littleton, there has been a Pollyanna Day attributed by the Town and celebrated in June since 2002. Now, and upcoming, the distinctive Official NH proclamation enhances history, and endorses optimism – and reasons to celebrate and commemorate Pollyanna Day!
On June 8th, it’s time to Celebrate Pollyanna Day at the Sculpture. Don’t miss rubbing Pollyanna’s bronze boot for luck and gladness! Or, what’s next. There’s more to discover Downtown… before and after, Pollyanna festivities at the Sculpture!
