Littleton Selectboard 3-28-21
DOT Presentation on Bridge Preservation Project.
Jason Tremblay from the NH Department of Transportation Bureau of Bridge Design presented to the Selectboard the anticipated plans for the bridge restoration project for the route 135 overpass over I-93. The bridge was built in 1981 with two spans. Data from the DOT states that an estimate of 3,500+ vehicles per day cross the bridge, 10% of that number are trucks. Tremblay also stated that he bridge lands at #4 on the DOT list of bridges to be repaired based on priority for the tier 3&4 category.
The location of the bridge to be repaired is identified here on this map below:
The bridge was repaired in 2004, with a resurfacing project taking place at that time, along with repairs to the expansion joints. Since then, no other work has been performed on the bridge. The anticipated preservation will “delay its regression to a lower condition state” per the DOT.
The DOT will continue with the NEPA study process and finish by May of 2022. The bridge repair process is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2023.
