LRH Celebrates Extraordinary Nurse
Riley Vashaw Given Nursing Mentorship Award
Littleton Regional Healthcare was honored to present Riley Vashaw, RN, with his fourth annual Nursing Mentorship Award. Mr. Vashaw exemplifies the traits of compassion, caring and commitment by supporting fellow nurses needed for successful mentoring relationships.
The theme for this award in 2019 is “How Do You Grow a Nurse?” The answer is through clinical and personal mentorship. The LRH Nursing Mentorship award was presented during this year’s Nurses Week celebrations.
Koren Superchi, RNC, MSN, VP of Patient Care Services stated, “We presented this award as a visual representation of the encouraging and supportive quality Riley Vashaw has provided his peers throughout his years at Littleton Regional Healthcare. Riley is always willing to take time to explain something to his peers, patients, students – the list is endless. He happily takes students, LNA’s, and other nurses along when he performs procedures that provide a learning opportunity like peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICC).
“Riley has also been kind enough to embrace BSN students who are looking for exposure to the emergency department. Each person Riley mentors is left feeling as if they are his only focus. He is kind and patient with anyone that is the beneficiary of his teaching and mentoring.”
