LRH to Withdraw from NCH

LRH to Withdraw from NCH

LRH Gives Notice of Intent

Littleton Regional Healthcare (LRH) announced today, that after careful consideration, the Board of Trustees has voted to exercise its option to withdraw from its affiliation with North Country Healthcare (NCH)

The timing of the announcement is a result of a provision in the original affiliation agreement. This allows each of the NCH hospitals a one-time option to withdraw during a short period commencing on the third anniversary of the affiliation. If not exercised, affiliation is permanent. The withdrawal will be complete after April 1, 2019.

About NCH

North Country Healthcare was formally established on June 30, 2015.  This affiliation created a nonprofit health care system in Northern New Hampshire. This includes Androscoggin Valley Hospital, Littleton Regional Healthcare, North Country Home Health and Hospice, Weeks Medical Center and Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital.

Littleton Regional Healthcare is the largest of the four affiliates employing more than 500 healthcare professionals offering 50 specialty services with an annual operating budget of $95 million. Littleton Regional Healthcare was financially strong going into the affiliation and remains financially strong today. The assets of the hospital always remained under the control of our local community trustees.

Regarding the decision, Robert Nutter, President at LRH stated, “We appreciate our NCH colleagues and look forward to future opportunities to work together on mutually beneficial projects. The goals of the affiliation have been closely evaluated since the agreement was implemented.  We have concluded that because of our different strategies and distinctive communities served, these goals can best be achieved independently.”

Littleton Regional Healthcare Board Chair, Roger Gingue, stated “Littleton Regional Healthcare will continue to pursue healthcare management strategies that are in the best interest of the patients and families we serve. This new direction will have no impact on our ability to continue to deliver high quality services and we remain as committed as ever to our patient’s needs.”

Mr. Nutter added, “We have been fortunate to have a number of valuable collaborations with other regional healthcare organizations. We expect that these relationships will only grow more beneficial to our community as we move forward.”
